The first craft we did we found at the Mommyapolis website http://mommyapolis.com/2010/01/12/valentine-craft-sun-catcher/, really simple valentine's day suncatchers made with tissue paper and contact paper. The kids loved making them. I ended up covering both sides with the contact paper once we were finished because Luke decided he liked "space" between his pieces! Sophia already has plans to expand upon this idea for both St. Patrick's day and Easter!
The second craft we did we found over at the Adventures of the Smith Family blog http://adventuringsmiths.blogspot.com/2011/02/krafts-for-kiddies-valentines-day.html and involved making collages out of paper pieces cut from magazine. We went through a stack of magazines and cut out all the red, pink and purple pieces and then made heart shaped collages with them. I also put out some scraps of scrapbooking paper to add to the variety of papers everyone had to chose from. I was surprised at how well they turned out! We will probably attempt some shamrock collages for St. Patrick's day!
We also made some cool heart shaped inspired snowflakes. I found the pattern at Hawaiian Snowflakes, http://www.hawaiiansnowflakes.com/pages/patterns/080hawaiian.htm. I saved the pattern to my computer and then printed it off the size of a whole sheet of paper. We opted to use red paper for our snowflakes!
