Our friend JoAnn posted that her family was trying this experiment http://www.imaginationstationtoledo.org/content/2011/04/how-to-make-a-naked-egg/ on her facebook page and I had always wanted to try it but had never done it, so I remembered to grab vinegar yesterday at the grocery store and THE NAKED EGG EXPERIMENT is underway!
We decided to add some variety to the experiment...
Sophia, being the OLDEST scientist conducting this experiment chose the OLDEST egg in the refrigerator (expiration date less than a week away)
William chose the organic, free range, farm fresh egg that we purchased from a family at our homeschool co-op. We figure since these eggs have a thicker shell that it will take longer for its shell to dissolve (our hypothesis!), we shall see!:
And Luke, being the YOUNGEST scientist conducting the experiment, chose the freshest store bought egg we had on hand (expiration date 2 weeks and 4 days away):
Awaiting results....we will keep you posted!
Often we are asked what we do all day. The assumption is, that as homeschoolers, we spend our day pouring over textbooks, doing "school at home". Nothing could be further from the truth. Take a glimpse into our lives. You may be surprised to see all the "learning" that is going on. I'm Laura, wife to Jay, mom to Brett, Hannah, Emily, Grant, Jacob, Cade, Sophia, William, Luke and Tori(yes, that's right, there are 10 of them!) and grandma to Noel, living and loving life in soutwestern Ohio.
